The Admissions Process

How much is the application fee?

The application fee is $100 for programs with a Spring or Fall 2024 intake. The fee is payable online via BusinessCAS at the time of your application submission.

How do I qualify for an application fee waiver?

Miami Herbert offers a limited number of application fee waivers. To qualify, applicants are encouraged to register and attend one of our virtual informational events in which participants gain time-saving tips for completing the application and are eligible to receive an application fee waiver code. Please check our latest e-newsletter for an upcoming workshop or email mba@miami.edu. Be sure to include your full name, date of birth, and BusinessCAS ID number if you have already started your application.

What is the admission deadline?

Application deadlines vary depending upon your program start date as outlined here. We encourage candidates to apply early for priority admission and scholarship consideration.

GMAT/GRE

Which standardized test does Miami Herbert Business School prefer GMAT or GRE?

The full-time MBA program prefers GMAT, however, if you wish to take GRE or Executive Assessment (EA), please discuss it with the enrollment advisor. There’s no preference between the two exams for specialized Master’s programs.

Can I request a GMAT/GRE waiver?

GMAT/GRE waivers can be granted on a case-by-case basis. Should you wish to request a waiver, in your BusinessCAS application make sure to "opt out" of submitting a test score. You will then need to upload a page summary of why you should be considered for a waiver.

Can I submit my application without the test scores?

Absolutely! In fact, we encourage you to submit your application as soon as you can so we can get the admission process started.

I’m not satisfied with my test score and am planning on re-take the test, should I submit my first score?

If you are not satisfied with your current score or are unsure whether it is competitive for the program in which you are applying, we recommend that you hold off on submitting your score. This does not prevent you from submitting your application as you will have a chance to submit the score after your application is received. We encourage you to connect with your enrollment advisor for guidance. You will find the advisor for your program and their contact information listed at the bottom of this screen.

Can I self-report my test score?

Yes! If you have a valid and competitive test score, we encourage you to upload a PDF copy of your score report through BusinessCAS. If you plan to retest, you can hold off on uploading your score until after your application is submitted and you’ve had a chance to retake the exam.

TOEFL/IELTS

Do I qualify for a TOEFL/IELTS waiver?

If English is not your first language, you will need to submit proof of English proficiency by taking the TOEFL or IELTS exam. This requirement may be waived if you earned a degree from an accredited institution within the U.S. or from one of the following English speaking countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada (except Quebec), Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, New Zealand, Kitts and Nevis, Lucia, Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, or the United Kingdom.

The TOEFL/IELTS requirement may also be waived if you hold an undergraduate or graduate degree from an academic institution, regardless of country, where the language of instruction was English. Official documentation confirming English as the language of instruction must be submitted with your application. The language of instruction can be confirmed via a statement on the official transcript, the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services international credential evaluation, or memo/letter issued to the University of Miami from the Registrar (or equivalent) at the foreign degree granting institution.

What is the minimum TOEFL/IELTS requirement?

TOEFL: 94

IELTS: 7

If I don’t meet the minimum language requirement, can I still apply for the program?

For enrollment to an MBA program, candidates must pass the minimum language proficiency requirements. A qualifying TOEFL or IELTS score may be submitted after your application is received in the event that you have not yet tested or plan to retest in order to strengthen your score.

For specialized master’s programs, candidates that have not achieved the minimum TOEFL or IELTS score but have strong academic performance may be considered for conditional admission. Those students must successfully complete a 4-week English for Graduate Business Course prior to enrolling in the program.
